A visit from the Mayor
Today the Mayor of Kendal, Alvin Finch, met our Gardening Club children to judge our gardens as part of the Kendal in Bloom competition. Mr Finch and Andy Blackman were given a tour by the children and Mrs Waller, so that we could show off all our hard work! We had the 'before' photos on display and we explained how we had grown the plants from seed. We showed them the courtyard area, the rockery in KS1, the re-wilding area opposite the Year 1 doors, the new sensory garden outside Reception class and the horseshoe area in KS2. They were very impressed! The theme was 'books' so we used Peter Rabbit as our focus and created Mr McGregor's garden, please take a look at the photos below. We don't find out the results until September so keep your fingers crossed!
Mrs Waller would like to say a HUGE thank you to all the children from Gardening Club, they have worked incredibly hard and we are really proud of their efforts. Also a BIG BIG thank you to all the adult helpers, we couldn't have done it without you! And well done to the whole school for bringing in donations of pots, compost, plants etc. It has been a truly successful community project.
