Brewery Dance Competiton Winner-Nicole Horner-Bourne
As you may well already know some of our KS2 children recently took part in a dance festival at the Brewery Arts Centre. During the eveing there were activites for the children to do. One of those was a reading response activity.
The children were given this quote by Merce Cunningham;
'You have to love dancing to stick to it. It gives you nothing back, no manuscripts to store away, no paintings to show on walls, no poems to be printed and sold, nothing but that single fleeting moment when you feel alive.'
The winner of this particulaur competition was Nicole Honer-Bourne who responded with:
'Once there was a girl named Ruby who loved to dance. Her dream was to become a famous dancer. The next day Ruby won a dance competition and when she won she said thank you, bowed and walked off. The judge ran after her and told her she forgot her prize but Ruby said she already got it. The prize of joy and happiness and that moment when you feel alive. The judge nodded, said thank you, waved and said goodbye. The end.'
Nicole's beautiful and mature response has won her a place on a workshop of her choice held at the Brewery Arts Centre.
Well done Nicole!
