Quarry Bank Mill visit
On Friday 6th October, year 6 travelled to Styal Mill in Cheshire, where the visited Quarry Bank Mill. It is one of the only cotton mills still in its original state from the Victorian period. The children all dressed as children would have done at that time-this really enhanced their experience.
They toured the mill, finding out about which jobs they would have potentially done. Some of which were very dangerous- such as getting hair and limbs caught in the machinery, as well as catching lung disease from breathing in all the dust fibres.
The Apprentice House was a particular favourite part of the day as even Mrs Green was reprimanded by the School Mistress-Mrs Shawcross! The staff at Quarry Bank Mill were very impressed with the behaviour and knowledge of all the class members.
Well done year 6-you did Vicarage Park very proud!
